The Official Guide to Set Up and Secure Your Trézor® Hardware Wallet

Welcome to Trézor® – Security Meets Simplicity

If you’ve just received your Trézor® device, congratulations—you're now one step closer to owning and protecting your digital assets with world-class security. This page will guide you through the official process at Trézor.io/Start®, ensuring that you set up your device safely and correctly.

Whether you own the Trézor Model One® or the Trézor Model T®, this guide applies to both and will help you take full control over your cryptocurrency.

Step 1: Unbox and Inspect Your Trézor®

Start by unboxing your Trézor® hardware wallet. Carefully inspect the packaging and make sure the box is sealed and untampered. Inside, you should find:

Important: Trézor® devices never come with a pre-set recovery phrase or PIN. If anything seems unusual, do not use the device.

Step 2: Visit Trézor.io/Start®

Open your preferred browser and go to Trézor.io/Start®. This is the only official site to begin setting up your device. You will be guided step-by-step through installing Trézor Suite® and initializing your wallet safely.

Always double-check that you are on the correct domain. Do not trust links sent by email or social media.

Step 3: Download Trézor Suite®

Trézor Suite® is the official software for managing your cryptocurrency. It works on Windows, macOS, Linux, and also has a browser-based version. Use it to view balances, send and receive crypto, manage devices, and update firmware.

Follow the instructions at Trézor.io/Start® to install Trézor Suite® on your computer. Once installed, open the app and connect your device using the provided cable.

Step 4: Initialize Your Device

After connecting your Trézor®, the Suite will prompt you to either create a new wallet or recover an existing one.

This seed is your backup and is required to recover your funds if the device is lost or damaged.

Step 5: Set a Strong PIN

You’ll be asked to set a PIN code, which protects your device from unauthorized access. Use a secure and unique PIN, and never share it with anyone.

For advanced users, Trézor® also allows you to enable a passphrase, which adds an extra layer of security by creating a hidden wallet accessible only with a custom phrase.

Step 6: Add Cryptocurrency Accounts

Now that your device is initialized, open Trézor Suite® and start adding accounts for the cryptocurrencies you plan to manage. Trézor® supports a wide range of assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Cardano, and many others.

Your private keys remain inside the device at all times, and only the public data is shown in Trézor Suite®.

Step 7: Receive and Send Funds

To receive crypto, go to the “Receive” tab in Trézor Suite®, select your account, and generate a new address. Always confirm the address on the device screen before sharing it.

To send crypto, go to the “Send” tab, input the recipient address and amount, and confirm the transaction directly on your Trézor® device. This physical confirmation step is a key part of Trézor’s® security model.
